Physical Therapy: Exercises for the joints help in the movement. They are helpful in strengthening of the muscles and joints. Yoga and massages can provide relief from the pain and improve flexibility.

Medications: Painkillers and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can reduce the pain and swelling. Disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs and biologics (drugs made from the living organisms) are recommended to treat the disease.

Surgery: In extreme cases where the medication and other treatments are not helpful, the doctors may suggest a surgery.

Joint Repair Surgery: Small incisions over the joint are made to repair the joint. This surgery will reduce the pain and improve the movement.

Joint Replacement: Damaged joint is removed and replaced with an artificial joint. The surgery is usually performed on hip and knee joints.

Joint Fusion: Bones in the joints is removed and locked together till they heal. This procedure is done for small joints like wrists, ankles and finger.
